No, Mum, I'm Not A Millennial

Basically, guys, I'm moving internet-house.

First off (and believe me when I say I am very sad to announce this), Another Teen Reader is dead. I've been wanting to blog about more than books for a really long time now, so I figured, since I hadn't been regularly posting for so long anyway, I had the opportunity for a rebrand.

The archives here are staying live, so whenever you want to re-read an old post you can, but for the future you can visit me at No, Mum, I'm Not A Millennial, where you will be able to get some of the same bookish content alongside life stuff, activism from a youth perspective, and puns. I'm waiting a few weeks to launch, since I want to organise a launch week and make sure I have a decent number of posts queued first. But I hope to see you there - in fact, if you like, you can head over now to laugh at the picture of my face I uploaded, and read my new About the Author and Policies pages. Not terribly exciting, but never mind.

HELP ME! HELP ME!

Hello, my friends. Please, have a seat. I need to ask you a favour.

I study Business. Sounds niche, I know, but it's a compulsory subject at our school and actually kind of fun, so ...

Oh jeez, I'm already on a tangent and I was trying to make this short.

As part of our course, we need to complete a piece of research - and as part of that research, I need as many people as possible to fill in a survey for me. This is a targeted survey, so it's only intended for librarians, booksellers, authors or ANYONE WHO READS A LOT.

If you're reading this blog, then I'm guessing you might be the kind of person I'm looking for.

Announcing ... Disability Diaries!

Today, peeps, I have some very exciting news. The kind that calls for confetti, klaxons, and fanfares. Preferably on a bugle.

Wait - nobody has a bugle? I guess I'll just have to tell you without musical accompaniment.

You disappoint me, internet.

ANYWAY - I'm here to announce an event I'll be co-hosting at the beginning of next year. It's called Disability Diaries, and it's basically an extravaganza of disability-related reviews, discussions, personal posts ... and basically anything else we can think of that says what we want to say about disability in the book and blogging worlds.

This whole (may I say brilliant) idea is the brainchild of Ely @ Tea and Titles, and also hosting are Angel @ Angel Reads, Cee Arr @ Diary of a Reading Addict, Dina @ Dinasoaur, and Jolien @ The Fictional Reader. We're really, really excited - and we need YOUR help.

If you want to contribute with your own posts - and knowing how many brilliant conversations I've had with you guys about disability, I'm hoping you will - then please fill in the Google Form below. There's no need to sign up if you want to enjoy what we post and write on Twitter, but if you'd like to write your own stuff, this form lets us know who you are so we can keep track of and share your contributions.
That's all I'm going to say for now, since it's taking place on the 14th - 21st of January and that's a while off yet, but make sure you're following all of our blogs and Twitter feeds - we'll be making various little announcements as time goes on.

Sorry Guys, This Isn't A Blog Post

So this is how it went when I attempted to write something today:

Me: Come ON Lara. It's Wednesday and you need a post.

Other Me: But I just want to watch YouTube and be lazy!

Me: But-

Other Me: Pleeaasee? *pouts and manages to waste an hour and a half*

Me: Right. You've had long enough. It's time to blog. *cracks knuckles and opens computer*

Me: And now the WiFi won't work. I'm going to have to write something self-depricating on my phone and hope publishing it doesn't use all my data.

Other Me: ...

Me: Sometimes I really hate you.

Bub-Bye FOR NOW!

Now, it may have escaped your notice (because apparently not all of my subjects have been properly counting down the days until MY summer holidays start) but I only have twelve days of school left. And in those twelve days I have to:

• Write 1200 words of a novel (which I know takes most of you guys, like, seconds, but will be a solid half hour a day for me)

• Do sixty hours of school work, half of which seems to be actually important.

• Go on an intensive seaside activity weekend complete with climbing, archery and dorm-to-dorm pranks (oh, I know, the hardship)

• Learn an entire ten-page choral piece in four part harmony.

• Sing said piece as part of said choir in the Royal Albert Hall in front of quite a few people. And possibly TV cameras.

There wasn't really any room to write ten blog posts in that list. Sorry! I will see you on the 18th of July, after which I intend to write a post EVERY DAY I'M SUPPOSED TO. (That's three times a week, for those of you who've got used to my day-skipping laziness.)

In Which I Tell You Something

Oooh, a post on Sunday. Perhaps you are wondering - has she gone out of her mind? Has she forgotten everything about scheduling and blog posts and even what day it is?

In short, no.

I've decided to take a short break from blogging over this half term holiday. It's terribly disappointing, but I'm afraid you won't get any posts until next Monday, the 22nd, because if I'm honest, I've been feeling the quality of my blogging slipping a bit lately. If I was a teacher, I would write on my school report that I Could Do Better.

Don't worry - I'll most definitely be back - but I'm just taking a few days to rejuvenate, to read more, and to let my poor exhausted writer's brain have a rest. That way, I should be a bit happier with the stuff I'm coming out with on my return.

Please do not mourn my absence too bitterly.
